If you or someone you know comes across such claims, tweet to us or visit your nearest police station", the tweet read. They also shared a tweet by one of the victims of such a crime. People have received the pictures of identity cards of police officials on Whatsapp as verification by these online scammers.

These fraudsters threaten people with money laundering and drug cases to scare them. They were told that their phone numbers were involved in these illegal activities. One person came forward saying, on receiving such a call, when he said he would visit the nearest police station, the Fraudsters immediately hung up the call.
