Missing Medical Student Found in Goa

A 19-year-old medical student who went missing has been found safe in Goa

Aditi Mirajkar, a second-year occupational therapy student at Mumbai's King Edward (VII) Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College, went missing between 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. on January 31.

Aditi's behaviour on the day of her disappearance had raised suspicions. According to a batchmate, she had unfollowed all her classmates and friends on Instagram. Aditi called her mother from the train after finishing her last first-semester class at 5 p.m. to let her know she was on her way home. However, she never arrived, and despite their efforts, her family could not locate her.

After getting no leads, her father, Jitendra Mirajkar, filed a missing report at the Bhoiwada police station on February 1. The police initiated an investigation, visited her college, and spoke to Dr. Hemant Dahake, an assistant professor.

Five days later, on February 6, a family friend who happened to be in Goa spotted Aditi and informed her parents. She was reunited with her parents that night. Police recorded statements on February 7 at 12:30 a.m.

In her statement, Aditi mentioned that she left Mumbai because her parents were forcing her to marry a relative, which she was against. She switched off her phone to avoid any contact with them and went to Goa to prevent the situation.

The police are still investigating to uncover the cause of her disappearance and the events that preceded it. Additionally, they are trying to find out why she specifically traveled to Goa instead of any other nearby cities.
