Vasai, Mumbai

On January 26, Kishore Surty, a Local restaurant owner in Naigaon East was attacked when he was on his way home from his night shift. The assailant attacked Surty on the head three time because of which he suffered severe injuries and was admitted to the ICU at Cardinal Gracias Memorial Hospital, Vasai. It was through the CCTV camera in the society premises that the police was able to discover how the incident had occurred.

The police were still not able to find the culprit responsible for this crime after investigation. Although, the police noticed that the Butcher shop owner, Sameer Pandey, opposite the hotel had not been seen for a very long time.

Later, the police found out that he had eloped to his village in Bihar for an alleged family emergency. The police tried contacting him but he was not responsive. The police decided to resort to immediate action against this and went all the way to Bihar.

The police set up a sting operation for 12 hours and on the same day, they ended up getting hold of Sameer Pandey. He was brought to Mumbai for further investigation and he confessed to the crime. He committed the crime because the restaurant owner had stopped taking supplies from him which led him to losses and that was the last resort he thought of.

Pandey has been put up in jail for a period of 5 years under the charges of attempted murder. However, Pandey has been appealing to the Higher Courts to find a solution for his release from jail time.
