India's Longest Expressway Inaugurated on Sunday

The expressway between Delhi and Mumbai was inaugurated by PM Modi


On Sunday, Narendra Modi, the Prime minister of India inaugurated the longest expressway, which will link Mumbai and Delhi. On Sunday, only the first phase was inaugurated, which is 246 km. The entire length of the expressway will be 1386 km. This expressway is made to reduce the traveling time and distance between Delhi and Mumbai. The expressway has reduced the traveling distance between Mumbai and Delhi by 12 percent. The distance was brought down to 1242 from 1424 km. The time is reduced by 50 percent as well. Earlier it used to take 24 hours to travel between Mumbai and Delhi, but now it will take 12 hours.


The expressway will be laid down in 6 states including Rajasthan ,Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh And Maharashtra and cities like Jaipur, Indore, Bhopal, Vadodara and Surat. The expressway will also bring down the traveling time between Delhi and other cities. The traveling time Between Delhi and Jaipur will now be reduced to 3.5 hours.


This expressway also connects smaller cities to the capital of India. It will reduce the time of traveling between many small cities and states. This will increase tourism in these states and will lead to infrastructural development in these areas.


The toll taxes on this expressway will be 90 rupees for light vehicles and 145 rupees for light commercial vehicles. The rates will change when one is traveling to Bakarpur. Light vehicles have to pay rupees 805 and light commercial vehicles, rupees 950.
